Letters is my response to the video footages that Zuhui Kang, my friend living in Beijing, took for a year of covid. A year ago, I sent an email suggesting exchanging videos like exchanging letters. She misunderstood my idea, lost her passcode to her Gmail account, and a year has passed. A year later, she finally sent me her 45 15-seconds video footages of her past year. I walked through her video coll-ections, and some of the footages immedi-ately reminded me of my video footages from last year. Then I had to walk through the videos I took last year, and some of them reminded me of her videos. I combined them together and projected them onto the walls facing each other. The videos are montaged at a rhythmical pace like a conversation.
Thus, the 2 channel video installation is a metaphor for the delayed conversation of two friends in the distance in the covid era. When the audience enters the room, they have to decide where to watch every time the video changes.
