SPEAKJAZZ is a performance series started from 2022. The performer’s speech is automatically translated into a jazzy sound of two-handed piano and a drum. It is purposefully muted by overlapping the real-time algorithmic music, de-signifying the meanings of the speech. MAX-built music-making algorithm, built in collaboration with Shawn Greenlee for the piece, mainly uses pitch detection, is a de-signification device, embracing glitches and mistranslation as musicality.
In SPEAKJAZZ on Blank City, the exhibition statement is deconstructed, mistranslated, and remixed into nonsense jazzy sound. The installation, composed of one channel video, a music stand, and the exhibition statement, invites the viewers to actively engage in the exhibiton by decoding the designified statement.
스픽재즈는 2022년에 시작한 퍼포먼스 연작이다. 퍼포머의 연설은 자동으로 양손 피아노와 드럼의 재지한 사운드로 번역된다. 이 실시간 알고리즘은 연설의 의미에서 기의를 탈각시키며 퍼포머의 목소리를 의도적으로 없앤다. 숀 그린리와 협력하여 MAX로 제작한 알고리즘은 대체로 음 감지를 사용하며, 번역불가능성과 오류를 음악성으로 환영하는 탈기의화 도구이다.
공백도시에 대한 스픽재즈는 전시 스테이트먼트를 해체하고, 잘못 번역하며, 터무니 없는 재즈 사운드로 리믹스한다. 1 채널 영상, 보면대, 그리고 전시 스테이트먼트로 구성된 이 설치 작업은 관객이 적극적으로 전시를 해독하도록 초대한다.
